NBS has integrated its PI product with the Recorder platform, giving brokers using Recorder a new way to access NBS.

Through the integration, brokers can capture risk information within Recorder and submit it directly into NBS’s system, reducing the need to re-key information or move between different systems.
Once received by NBS, submissions follow the usual process, with NBS’s own question set, rating and rules applied through its existing system. Risks are then presented to their underwriting team for review, with quotes and documentation returned through Recorder.
Another route into NBS
The integration is built API-first, enabling NBS to retain control of its approach while Recorder provides the connection between the broker and NBS. This helps ensure a consistent approach regardless of how a broker chooses to submit business.
For brokers, the integration provides another route into NBS and is designed to create a more streamlined quoting journey. Risk information captured within Recorder can pass directly to NBS, reducing duplication and allowing brokers to manage more of the process within the systems they already use.
Supporting a more connected market
The launch also reflects the increasing role of connectivity across the insurance market. Brokers are using technology to bring together risk capture, data, CRM and quoting, while insurers and MGAs are increasingly looking at how technology can support more efficient trading. API connectivity allows these systems to communicate while enabling each party to retain control of its own processes and technology.
Recorder’s platform is built around this approach. An insurer or MGA can connect its product to Recorder, allowing brokers using the platform to access that product through a consistent digital workflow, with structured data passing between the broker and provider.
Steve Cowman, Managing Director at NBS, said:
“Making brokers’ lives easy is at the heart of how we develop our products and technology, and this integration gives brokers another way to access our PI offering.
“The integration came about following a request from a broker using Recorder, so it’s great to now see it live. We want to listen to how brokers want to trade with us and, where we can, make it easier for them to access our products in a way that works for their business.”
Matt Hicks, Co-Founder at Recorder, said:
For years, insurers were told that trading online meant squeezing their products into a standard question set. That was e-trade. It made every product look the same and stripped out the judgement that sets a good underwriter apart.
API-first products reverse that. NBS ask their own questions, price with their own rating and put every risk in front of their own underwriters. Brokers get a fast, clean journey, and NBS keep the underwriting expertise that made them worth approaching in the first place.
NBS have been a pleasure to work with. They understand where the market is heading, and we’re delighted to welcome them to the Recorder platform.
The NBS PI product is live on Recorder now.
