Accuro Underwriting Care Home Insurance now live on Recorder

Recorder is now live with Accuro Underwriting Care Home Insurance, backed by Aviva. We look forward to expanding our relationship with Accuro and increasing the number of their products available on Recorder.

Accuro goes live with digital care insurance scheme
Accuro Underwriting’s care combined insurance product is now live on the Recorder platform, bringing a more streamlined experience to brokers placing business across a broad range of care settings.

Accuro, a specialist underwriting firm with more than 20 years’ experience in the care sector, offers cover for adult and elderly care homes, care groups, supported living, hospices, respite homes and day care centres.

The scheme which is backed by Aviva as capacity provider has been built on the delegated authority platform provided by Recorder, a recent winner of the MGAA Service Provider of the Year award. Through Accuro’s web portal, brokers can now seamlessly submit presentations and risk information, receive quotations and access policy documents, all in one place.

Behind the portal, Recorder rates each risk against Accuro’s own underwriting rules and enriches the submission with third-party data. Every quote is then reviewed by an Accuro underwriter before it’s released.

Care insurance can involve complex risks, varied care activities and multiple locations, making specialist underwriting judgement essential. With Accuro equipping underwriters with the right tools and automating routine administration, the platform enables them to devote more time to understanding each risk and focusing on its technical underwriting requirements.

This approach is designed to deliver a more responsive and focused service for brokers and their clients, while retaining the underwriting controls and discipline needed to support the scheme’s long-term stability.

Managing Director at Accuro, Steve Pugh, added: “This development brings benefit to our Brokers making their provision of risk information and our responses both easier and quicker with improved productivity driving further growth rather than increased admin”.

The scheme is the first step in a wider programme. Accuro plans to build out its proposition on the same platform, with the additional capacity freed up by automation going into growth rather than administration. The modular set-up means further products can be added without rebuilding the system underneath.

Donna Smith, Head of Schemes & Delegated Authorities at Aviva, commented:
"It's great to see Accuro investing in technology that will help streamline the trading journey for brokers while ensuring specialist underwriting expertise remains at the heart of the proposition.
"By combining digital tools, enhanced data and underwriting oversight, Accuro and Recorder's new digital capability will help deliver a more efficient, responsive service for brokers and their clients.
"We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Accuro as they develop their offering and help protect this important sector."
