Digital Risk Capture 🔗 London Market Slips Editor 📄 Advisory Board Expansion 🏛️

January Recap:

Digital Risk Capture

We continue to make enhancements to our core digital risk capture tooling which is designed to replace proposal forms with a branded, digital experience that delivers clean, structured risk data to our broking clients. The latest enhancements enable embedded rules that provide instant feedback to users to help establish the product/customer fit as quickly as possible.

Recorder also enables output of captured data to API quote requests, customisable market presentations and automatic rating on Recorder hosted products and schemes.

Slip Editor

Last week we released a new feature designed to streamline London Market slip creation through a unified slip editor interface connected to underlying broker and customer data. The tool focuses on structured data inputs while maintaining flexibility for manual inputs, offering eight dedicated sections from Risk Details to Remuneration.

Key Highlights:

  • Smart Pre-population: To save time, fields like Insured Name, Product Line, and Principal Address automatically pull from existing business records and proposals in Recorder.

  • Customisable Coverage: You can now define multiple "Interests" with unique limits, excesses, and wordings tailored to each policy.

  • Streamlined Security: Manage multiple insurers, line percentages, and signing provisions in one place, with an auto-populated Leader field for the subscription agreement.

  • Flexibility by Design: Most fields default to free text and can be pre-configured in your settings to match your specific workflow and common wordings.

February focus:

Recorder for Insurers

Recorder is expanding its capabilities for insurers with a digital distribution module which enables insurers to manage brokers relationships, TOBAs, product access, underwriting guidance for DA and API credentials. By utilising direct-to-insurer API connectivity, Recorder also enables insurers to offer quote & bind for their products within Recorder.

For carriers without APIs, the platform streamlines the relationship with brokers by generating structured, pre-populated proposal forms that eliminate rekeying and data loss. This creates a more reliable submission process for complex or non-standard risks, providing insurers with cleaner submission data and a full auditability while helping brokers to focus on advice not paperwork.

Events

We attended a couple of really insightful MGAA events in January including the the AXA breakfast briefing on ‘Navigating the Future in a Changing Market’.

3 Key takeaways from the event:

  1. AI-Driven Efficiency and Talent Retention: MGAs should leverage AI to handle submission triage and administrative tasks, allowing underwriters to focus purely on high-value judgment. This shift from "administrator" to "specialist" is crucial for attracting and retaining top-tier talent.

  2. Proactive Governance via Embedded Tech: Manual, retrospective governance leads to high overheads and data hygiene issues. By using trading technology with embedded auditability MGAs can significantly reduce operating expenditures for themselves and their insurers.

  3. Strategic Growth in a Changing Market: With 50% of UK commercial lines premium expected to flow through Delegated Authority (DA) by 2029, insurers are seeking partners that help control cost-to-serve premium, AI-native technology can help minimise the 13% of operational spend currently lost to compliance overheads.

Recorder has decided to expand our relationship with the MGAA to Gold Sponsorship. Sponsoring the MGAA marks a significant step for Recorder after launching our delegated authority module in 2025. Our goal is to not only to provide MGAs with the agile, modern tools they need to digitise and scale distribution but also build API connections with MGAs to offer brokers an alternative digital trading network to the restrictive, closed-loop systems of traditional software houses.

We believe the future of distribution in the market lies in open API connectivity. By partnering with other tech suppliers within the MGAA, we aim to build an open ecosystem that provides our clients with superior digital trading opportunities and the freedom to grow without the usual integration barriers. We are excited to collaborate with the community to make frictionless and open e-trading the new standard.
